Vryheid KZN: NKZN needs your blood

Keep an eye out for details regarding a Special Bleed on September 24 (Heritage Day)

The South African Blood Service (SANBS) is urging donors to donate blood, since they are experiencing a shortage at the moment. There is currently an Inter-Branch Challenge between four branches, namely Midlands, Highway, Durban North and Durban South, who will be competing against the Northern KwaZulu-Natal branch (NKZN). This healthy competition commenced on September 7 and will continue until September 30. The aim behind the challenge is to maintain the current blood supply and to save a life. And the NKZN branch wants the bragging rights! So donate blood at your nearest Blood Donor Centre or contact Shavani Sewpaul on 082-870-3446 – for a Blood Drive closest to you. Keep an eye out for details regarding a Special Bleed on September 24 (Heritage Day).
The competition statistics are as follows (September 7 to 11):
Highway: 67.1%
Midlands: 81.7%
Durban North: 99.8%
Durban South: 104.5%
NKZN: 109.5%
The donors in Vryheid made a huge contribution to these numbers when they donated during last week’s blood drive. The NKZN target for the day was 59 units, and the SANBS collected 126 units of blood!
The next blood drives will be on September 19 and September 26 at Pick n Pay from 9am until 1pm.
