DUNDEE – Support the SANBS and help save lives

The SANBS will be hosting donor drives in Endumeni during September and here's where and when you can support them

The SANBS is in desperate need of donors and you can be a hero and save lives just by giving blood.

Blood levels are critically low at present and based on estimated demand, 3 738 lives are at risk this week. COVID-19 restrictions have severely limited the ability to collect blood stocks, particularly as the SANBS are not able to access schools, tertiary institutions and corporates, to host blood drives.

“We are experiencing a high demand for blood from hospitals and are in dire need of blood donations across the country. Our Group O blood stocks have dropped significantly and we are appealing to all South Africans to donate a unit of blood in aid of those who need it most,” petitioned Silungile Mlambo, SANBS Chief Marketing Officer.

Blood Group O is considered the universal blood group because anyone – regardless of blood type – can receive type O blood without risking a transfusion reaction. The SANBS will be hosting donor drives in Endumeni during September and here’s where and when you can support them.

Donor drives are hosted in Dundee between 1pm and 6pm, at the Boulevard Centre between 10am and 4pm and in Glencoe between 1pm and 6pm.
