Foetus found at Pieters dump site, Ladysmith

Police are investigating a 'concealment of birth' case

A foetus was found at the Pieters dump site early Wednesday afternoon (August 5). The remains had been put inside a red plastic bag and dumped at the site.

The foetus was found by a person who was passing through the area.

Police have described this crime as an evil and gruesome act.

According to police spokesperson Captain Bongani Nyathi, the mother of the foetus committed the crime of ‘concealment of birth’.

A case is being investigated by Ezakheni SAPS.

At this stage, no arrest has been made.
