Ladysmith snake expert still hunting for slithering snakes during winter

Fanie jumped into his car and arrived at the address to see a brown house snake slowly slithering on the ground

Local snake expert Fanie Cilliers is still on the hunt for snakes, even though the winter chill has set in.

Fanie says snake calls are now few and far between, but he still gets the odd call from a distraught resident saying they have a snake in their house or yard, and he must come quickly.

He recently received a call from a homeowner in Farquhar Road, who spotted a brown-coloured snake just outside their home.

Fanie jumped into his car and arrived at the address to see a brown house snake slowly slithering on the ground next to the wall.

He managed to quickly pick up the snake without any harm to the reptile, himself or the residents.

The snake was safely released away from town, where it will have an abundant source of food to snack on.

Remember to be on the lookout for snakes this winter, as they will be mating and seeking out places that are warm.
