14 injured as taxi and truck collide just outside Ladysmith

Police, Public Safety, emergency personnel and towing services responded to the scene

14 people were injured in a crash on the R103 Harrismith road last night (June 26) just outside Ladysmith.

It is believed that a truck was pulling onto the roadway when a taxi fully loaded with passengers crashed into the side of the truck.

The driver of the taxi was trapped in the wreckage, with emergency personnel having to use the ‘jaws of life’ to free him.

All the injured were stabilised at the scene before being taken to hospital for further medical attention.

The road was closed for a long period of time due to the serious nature of the crash.
