Temporary shelters are available for the homeless during lockdown
NGOs, NPOs and the business sector will provide meals
Just a reminder that temporary shelters have been arranged for the homeless during the nationwide lockdown that has been implemented to curb the spread of Covid-19 (coronavirus).
The following places are currently acting as temporary shelters for homeless males and females: Alfred Duma Local Municipality – Utility Hall, Agra Crescent Civic Centre and Limit Hill Hall; Okhahlamba Local Municipality – DSD Centre, Woodford, Acton Homes and Bethany Halls.

Stakeholders have been assigned with various tasks and responsibilities, as follows: SAPS – provide safety and security; Department of Social Development (DSD) – essential needs such as clothes, blankets and food parcels; the Al-Imdaad Foundation has already provided people with sponges; NGOs, NPOs and the business sector will provide meals to the homeless.
Male and female occupants are separated in the respective shelters.
