#SiegeofLadysmith2020 – Video: Premier to meet with taxi association in Ladysmith

A meeting will be held tomorrow (Friday, March 13) with Premier Sihle Zikalala

Ubumbano Lokuthula Organisation chairperson Andile Hlatshwayo, along with senior members of the Klipriver Taxi Association, met with members of the community in Acaciavale earlier today (March 12).

Nathi Mthethwa and Andile Hlatshwayo spoke to community members about the current state of the protest action in Ladysmith and issues facing the community, including perceived poor service delivery from the municipality.

Hlatshwayo said that a meeting will be held tomorrow (Friday, March 13) with Premier Sihle Zikalala at 10am and that they are expecting a positive response from him, as the matter of Mayor Vincent Madlala has been “escalated” by his organisation (Ubumbano Lokuthula) to the president of the country.

Hlatshwayo and the taxi association also visited the Ezakheni Bulk Water Treatment Plant, where they spoke to protesting members of the community, who were blocking the road and stopping water from being pumped. They managed to get the water works up and running, and water supply will be restored to the affected areas.

If tomorrow’s meeting does not yield positive results, Hlatshwayo says the protest will carry on until such time as the mayor is removed.
