#SiegeofLadysmith2020 – Enterprising protesters cash in

It seems that enterprising protesters at some of the roadblocks in and around Ladysmith are charging R100 to allow motorists through. While we cannot confirm that this is happening at all of the road closures, it has been reported more than once to us.

This brings into question the motivation of some of the protesters.

Currently, Roosboom, Helpmekaar intersection, Ajantha Crescent, Protea Drive and Van Riebeeck Park are closed. The bypass is still open, but as we have said before, everything can change in a matter of seconds.
