SANBS needs your blood, as stock levels are low

Please donate in aid of those who may need blood or blood products

The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) is currently experiencing low blood stock levels for the first time after many successful months. South Africans are thus being called to donate in aid of those who may need blood or blood products.

The SANBS is an independent non-profit organisation and one of the leaders in the discipline of blood transfusion.

The organisation operates in eight out of the nine provinces in South Africa (with the exception of the Western Cape, which is serviced by the Western Province Blood Transfusion Service). It also provides crucial support to countries in the SADC region.

The SANBS supplies over one million blood products annually and is rated among the top blood services in the world. This pedigree comes as a result of world-class testing and collection protocols which ensure that the blood that is transfused is always of top quality.

The blood is processed into its constituent components – ie red blood cells, plasma and platelets – so therefore, in principle, a single blood donation can save a minimum of three lives. Blood donations go beyond just the person who receives blood – it’s all about saving a life.

So if you’re interested in donating to save a life, then do so by going to the local blood donor clinic at San Marco Centre. Become a hero today!
