Blocked sewer floods driveway of children’s home in Ladysmith

When the sewer overflows, the children can't use the driveway and it also poses a major health hazard for them

Sewer woes have been plaguing the children and staff at Victory Haven (home for abused and vulnerable children) in Mimosa Road.

Speaking to one of the staff members, she says a blocked sewer mainline has been flooding the entire driveway heading into the Home for over a month now.

The children use the gate to go in and out of the premises, but when the sewer overflows, they can’t use the driveway and it’s also a major health risk for them.

The staff have been calling uThukela District Municipality each and every day for over a month, but their plea for help seems to have fallen on deaf ears.

They hope that uThukela workers come out to fix the problem soon.
