Police warn ‘BMX-ers’ against ‘ dangerous cycling
Pedestrians have had to 'dodge' trick rides on the pavements.
A bunch of teenager BMX riders have taken to the streets and pavements of Dundee during the school holidays much to the dismay of pedestrians and motorists who have suddenly found themselves having to dodge around the trick-riders.
Police have also moved in and called in at least one BMX-er to the police station after he was seen riding around the traffic circle, narrowly avoiding the traffic. His parents were also called in and warned to ensure that their son(s) do not ride on pavements and ride responsibly on the streets.
Police emphasised that do not want to ‘spoil anyone’s fun’ but were worried that someone could be injured. “The riders are not even using helmets. There is a BMX track next to the Dundee Junior School perhaps the riders could use that without endangering anyone’s life.”
The message from the rides (and their parents) is that teens on holiday are bored in the area where they say ‘there is not much to do’.
