ITEC Free Spool maintain their winning streak

The draw for zones took place and Itec Free Spool, together with our opponents, Glencoe Angling Club, were drawn in zone 2 - the least favoured waters in Richgate Park.

The penultimate league fixture of the NFWAA took place on Sunday 15 March 2015 at Richgate Park, Chelmsford Dam.
The ever eager anglers from the affiliated clubs started queuing at the main gate from as early as 01:00.
The draw for zones took place and Itec Free Spool, together with our opponents, Glencoe Angling Club, were drawn in zone 2 – the least favoured waters in Richgate Park.
At sunrise lines were cast and the stored adrenalin was waiting to burst with expectant sounds of a reel run. Only a handful of anglers were fortunate enough to enjoy that sweet sound and sight of the line cutting through the water.
Reports of catches were few and far between and anglers were made to work hard for their meagre catches.
Itec Free Spool members are renowned for being among the most die-hard fishermen in the league and this was on display as they tried almost every trick in the book to lure and entice the fish to their baits.
Itec Free Spool had not lost any of its league fixtures for the season but this winning streak was under threat as Glencoe were determined to bag all 3 points on offer.
The moment of truth was at the weigh–in. There were concerned looks on the faces of the anglers as their meagre catches were displayed for all to see.
Itec Free Spool eked out a 17 points to 10 victory over Glencoe A.C.
The top three anglers of the day for Free Spool were Schalk van Rooyen, Gerrit Harmse and Ronnie Rampersadh.
The final league fixture of the season is scheduled to take place on March 29, 2015 at Sanford Islands.
Itec Free Spool will have to bring their “A game” against Dannhauser A.C. if they want to maintain their unbeaten winning streak.
