Sir
Local government in Endumeni has left voters in the lurch. Political expediency has overtaken the much-heralded promises of service delivery.
On the back of various scandals (well documented in the Courier), we now have a host of political appointees running the budget of the town. These appointees (who obviously wear the right political colours) are largely faceless and, I am afraid, unaccountable.
Gone are the days when serving a town was an honour (and, yes, there are one or two employees who still do a fantastic job despite the upheavals in management).
The municipality is largely a cash cow for the self-serving few. We faithfully pay our rates and service charges but what do we get in exchange?
Little. Questionable roads, questionable people who work for the municipality and spend our money (what happened to the Nando’s investigation?) litter and political people keen on appointing their cronies.
Very sad.
Beaver.
