DHS take on NHS and the rain…

The first team played a brilliant match, working together as a cohesive unit, maintaining great spirit and enthusiasm while playing fast passing hockey.

The following DHS learners were selected for the KZNCB team: Ruben Kenchenten, Tumelo Molefe, Cebelihle Kubheka, Will Fourie and Tian Wang.
These talented young players will go and play in the South African Development Tournament for under 19 players, in Bloemfontein, from April 6-10.
DHS vs NHS
On Saturday the rain held off long enough for Dundee High to host its first round of winter sport against Newcastle High School.
Congratulations to all the teams that participated and a big thank you to NHS for travelling to give DHS a run for their money.
Thank you to all the local supporters for spurring the teams on from the side lines. The results of the day were as follows:
Netball – 14A won 11-8; 14B played against a mixed A and B NHS team and therefore there was no formal results recorded. 15A lost 22-2; 15B drew 3-3; 16A lost 12-15; 16B won 10-8. The second team drew 12-12 and the first team won 18-11. Well done ladies!
Girls’ Hockey –The under 14’s won 5-0 after playing a beautiful game and demonstrating enormous potential for a brilliant future in DHS hockey. The under 16’s won 2-1.
The first team played a brilliant match, working together as a cohesive unit, maintaining great spirit and enthusiasm while playing fast passing hockey. The girls couldn’t finish on many of their goal shots, yet were still able to win 6-1! The goal of the match is awarded to Karla Müller who played a fantastic rebound “cricket shot” out of the air and over the goalies head!
Boys’ Hockey – The first team won their match 2-0! Well done boys!
Rugby – The under 14’s had a convincing victory of 22-0. The under 15’s also had a brilliant victory with a crushing 52-0 final score. The under 16’s won their match 22-12 after a great match against NHS’ third team. The second team unfortunately lost 14-5 and the first team lost 19-7.
Athletics
The Umzinyathi Athletics Championships took place recently at DHS. Four districts took part: Nqutu, Msinga, Umvoti and Endumeni. The day started off rainy, but the athletes and supporters enjoyed every moment of the day. Congratulations to the following 13 athletes who achieved either first or second place in their respective events: Jan Frederick van Zyl, Emogène van der Schyff, Colin Scott, Christene Müller, Samu Thwala, Nokuphila Sokhela, Surina Gregory, Abigail Tiley, Bongumenzi Ntuli, Chantè Groenewald, Lwandile Mdladla, Lethiwe Mathonis and Sizwe Malakoane.
These athletes will now move on to take part in the Provincial KZN School Championships (March 13-14).
