The DHS spirit was powerfully contagious
DHS held its Top Ten Awards Assembly last Wednesday. Congratulations to the following learners who achieved a top ten position for their term 4 2014 academic results. (The names are ranked form first to tenth.)

Athletics Day
DHS hosted its annual athletics day on Friday, January 30. The rain held off to allow all participating to enjoy a warm and sunny day and the DHS spirit was flying high thanks to a very enthusiastic group of matrics. Thank you to all the learners who took part and expended themselves on the field and to the staff of DHS who helped co-ordinate and run the day. Results will be posted at a later stage.
Brandon Halforty
Over December, Brandon Halforty represented KZN at the SA Championships which were held at Bloemhof, North West. At these championships, different provinces fished against each other and 100 juniors were invited to another round of trials. It was then announced that Brandon was selected to represent the Junior Protea Team which consists of the top five juniors from the National Trials. In August, Brandon will be travelling to Nambia to represent South Africa. Congratulations on this outstanding achievement. Your school is incredibly proud of you.
Chelmsford Challenge
The Chelmsford Challenge took place this past weekend and as always, DHS arrived in full support. The DHS spirit was powerfully contagious. DHS had 40 entries and won the trophy for the school with the most participants for the 11th year in a row. That trophy has a very comfortable spot in the DHS trophy cabinet. Special mention must be made of Mrs Venter who swam the 3km distance and then swam the 1km as well to support the DHS learners. David Jacobs raised serious suspicion of being half fish and had to be searched for fins and gills after he swam the 3km, 1km and half kilometre races. A special thank you to Mrs Carter for encouraging learners to swim and to Mr Jacobs for donating the meat used at the celebratory braai after the challenge.
