First CPF sub-forum established in Fairleigh

"Police cannot work alone in curbing crime in the area. We need to work hand-in-hand," said Ramdaw.

History was made in the books of the Newcastle Community Policing Forum (CPF), following the launch of the first Fairleigh Community Policing Sub-forum.

With an increase in crime and drug abuse reported in the area, CPF Chairperson, Rajesh Ramdaw felt it was imperative to involve the community of Fairleigh and mobilise them in the fight against crime in the area.

Ramdaw along with SAPS Acting Visible Policing Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Ragunanan, Social Crime Prevention Sub-Section Commander, Captain VM Ndima, Ward Councillor, M. Ngcobo and dedicated community members of Fairleigh area attended the event.

“Police cannot work alone in curbing crime in the area. We need to work hand-in-hand,” said Ramdaw.

The newly elected committee members are as follows:

CPF Sub-Forum Chairperson: Professor Brown.
Deputy Chairperson: Gerry van der Plank.
Secretary: Jocy Mentoor.
Treasurer: Eldrich Ferris.
Public Relations Officer: Philip van Blerk.
The youth will be represented by Criselda Brown.

Community members were requested to work together with the committee members to ensure safety in their suburb.
