WARNING: Residents should prepare for possible power outage

Cllr Meiring stated however there was no planned load-shedding expected for Newcastle.

Eskom has reportedly communicated with the Newcastle Municipality’s Electrical Department, regarding a possible power outage due to maintenance at the Ncandu Substation today.

After receiving the information, Councillor Bertie Meiring released a warning to residents to be prepared. However, he emphasised there was no planned load-shedding expected for Newcastle.

“As you may recall, Newcastle Municipality receives power supply from Eskom (Ncandu Substation). They further stated they will be supplying Newcastle with one feeder instead of two as usual.”

Cllr Meiring said that should the team experience difficulty during the maintenance of the feed, only then would Newcastle be left without power. The planned maintenance is scheduled to take place from 9am to 3pm.
