Loadshedding schedule for Newcastle, according to municipal councillor

The following is a preliminary schedule, which is subject to change as more information becomes available.

Much confusion and uncertainty surrounds the current loadshedding situation in Newcastle, which has sent residents into a panic.

Ward 4 Councillor, Bertie Meiring issued the following message:

“This morning the power in the CBD will be restored at 10am. The areas that were switched off first yesterday receiving their electricity from the Townlands Substation (near Ferrum) will be switched off from 10am to 2pm.

This includes areas such as Sunnyridge, parts of Schuinshoogte, Ncandu, Barry Hertzog Park and parts of Pioneer Park etc. Only the areas that were switched off yesterday first.

From 2pm to 6pm it will be the same area that was switched off last night at 7pm. (Hutten Heights, Amiel Park etc).

From 2pm to 6pm it will be Lennoxton, Central A substation near Farmers Hall and parts of CBD. However it depends on Eskom. They will try not to switch off businesses as far as possible.

From 6pm to 11pm, it will be Siyahlala-la and Central (only the areas that were not affected above).”

Cllr Meiring advised this was a preliminary schedule, which is subject to change.
