Memel Fundraiser:
November 9 – Support a fundraising charity event, hosted by Hartland Oase and Memel Hotel, to raise funds for the Memel Old Age Home and Kameeldrift Children’s Home. Entrance fee is R100 per adult, and R50 per child under 12. This includes either venison potjie or chicken curry, plus a daredevil motorcycle display by Deon Dryer and singing performances by Riaan Kukard. Yoga 4 U Royal Tea:
November 9 – All senior citizens are invited to participate in the Yoga 4 U Royal Tea, which takes place at the Fernwood Sport Ground Multipurpose Centre from 2.30pm.

Angling Club Awards:
November 9 – Dance to the music of Durban’s top band, Tropical Heat, at the prestigious awards function of Breakwaters Angling Club at Status Hall. The event begins at 6pm and costs R150pp, which includes a scrumptious meal. Call Kidd on 084 600 8333, Ronnie on 060 993 5228, Neville on 083 414 3415 or Matthew on 082 807 8919. This will be a memorable night as you dance away to the songs of yesteryear.

7th Worldwide Aquathon:
November 9 – Support a good cause and experience the wonders of water at this special three hour aqua marathon. All proceeds will be donated to Esperanza Special Needs School. Outlast each other while having fun burning calories! Registration is at 8.30am and the event will start at 9am and end at 12pm. A healthy breakfast will be served, and there are lots of lucky draw prizes up for grabs. Book your spot, email admin@swimstudio.co.za

Remembrance Church Service:
November 10 – The Remembrance Church Service will take place at the Methodist Church at 9am, followed by the parade and march from the ‘Old Armoury’ (Monte Stanco Shellhole on Scott Street). This will start at 10.30am, from the Shellhole to the Hardwick Street cemetery, where a wreath-laying parade will take place at Lych Gate. All are welcome to attend and place a red poppy on the cenotaph with the other wreath bearers. Call Sandy on 081 270 2069.

Vincent Nixon will sell red poppies for a donation to war veterans.

Medical Camp:
November 10 – The Ramakrishna Clinic of SA-Durban will hold a free Medical Camp at Lennoxton Primary School, with volunteer specialists services offered to those in need in Newcastle. Registration will take place on Saturday, November 2, at the Ramakrishna Centre Newcastle, situated on Green Street, between 2.30pm and 3.30pm. Contact Mrs S Surjoo on 084 675 1618.

Religious

The Journey into Awakening:
November 10 – The Golden Age Movement invites you to Part 5 of the Journey into Awakening, to receive inner peace, spiritual growth and improved health and relationships. This will take place from 9am to 7pm at 2 Centre Street, Suryaville Temple Hall. To register, contact Natasha on 083 777 4959 or email curarwellness@gmail.com. The course is free, and donations are welcome. Tea will be served, and you can bring and share a vegetarian lunch.

Spiritual Walk – JULOOS:
November 10 – JIARAT (Jamia Imam Ahmad Raza Trust) will be hosting a spiritual walk for the celebration of the Holy Prophet Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) birth. The event is scheduled to take place from 10am to 11am from Boundary Road Mosque. Walkers will end up back at the Mosque via Centre Street, Amanat Centre, Saint Bruno Street and Boundary Road. During this walk, participants will be praising the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
