On October 4 and 5, Huttenpark Primary School hosted its very exciting Pro 10 cricket tournament. Seven teams from across Northern KwaZulu-Natal, as well as one from the Free State, took part in a gruelling two days of cricket.
Pool matches were tightly contested on the Friday at St Dominics Newcastle and Huttenpark, with the play-offs and final taking place on the Saturday at Huttenpark.
Friends, family and staff from the participating schools were treated to some outstanding cricket, which took place in a festival atmosphere thanks to live commentary, music, spectator involvement and refreshments for all to enjoy.

Eventual winners, Drakensberg Primary School produced a stellar performance in the final by beating Hamilton Preparatory after losing to the school in its pool match on the Friday. Player of the Tournament, Pieter Cronjé from Drakensberg, was the standout player with bat and ball for the duration of the tournament.
Huttenpark would like to thank Konica Minolta, FNB, Ilifa Engineering, Grey Goose and Veros for making this tournament a huge success.
Without these sponsors, who were also actively involved over the two days, it would be near impossible to provide the players with such an opportunity.
A big thank you to event coordinator, Ruan Wessels and his team of staff and parents, for breathing new life into a tournament that has not been held since 2016. It is a highlight on the cricketing calendar of Newcastle we wish to see for years to come.
