Long weekend brings multiple collisions
Emergency services were kept busy due to the number of incidents.
Collisions over the long weekend left at least 1 person dead and another 35 injured. Emergency services were kept busy due to the number of incidents.
Friday – June 14
On Friday morning, a motorcyclist sustained injuries after he collided with a car on Sutherland Street.
Later that day, a man was injured on Terminus Street after a truck drove over his leg.
Saturday – June 15
WATCO Emergency Medical Services responded to several collisions and incidents, including a pedestrian who was fatally injured near Madadeni. In a separate incident also in Madadeni, 10 people were injured in a collision involving a bakkie and a minibus.
A third collision of the day, this time near Volksrust, left 6 people injured. In another incident, 2 people believed to be returning from a wedding, were injured in a collision near Dannhauser.
Sunday – June 16
A vehicle overturned on the Majuba Pass (Laing’s Nek) as a result of a collision, leaving 2 people injured. Later that day, 3 vehicles were involved in a collision on the N11 near Ballengeich, with 4 people injured.
“A number of other, less serious collisions were also attended to,” said WATCO Operations Manager, Jan-Henk van Vuuren.
