#Spring2018 – Fun fashion to try out this spring

Here are a few spring trends to help you get fashion-ready

With spring here, you might find yourself standing in front of your closet wondering how to zoosh up your winter wardrobe.  Here are a few spring trends to help you out:

Women’s ‘what to wear’ guidelines:

“Americana”

Many international designers have used the so-called “American dream” as inspiration this season and the result is jaw dropping! So grab the old faithful red white and blue and combine it for a great look this spring.  Give it a local twist and plan your outfits based on the colours of the South African flag an you will make heads turn.

“Anoraks”

Sporty and urban is the key. With this trend you can have some creative fun and be confortable all at once. The Anorak trend is inspired by typical sport jackets with a colourful spring flair.

“Haute Denim”

Haute denim is a fun way to up the ante in the office. The fancier the better!  Dress up your jeans with a nice blazer or a cute blouse and you will be the envy of every girl at the office.

“Saturated”

With the ‘saturated fashion’ trends there is no neutral, no natural and no ‘safe space.’ Go bold or go hom1! Bright, saturated hues are popping up everywhere whether it is plain and monotone, colour-blocked or patterned. Think Gert Johan Coetzee, think David Tlale and think Marianne Fassler! These local designers never shy away from making bold colourful statements and neither should you!

“Transparencies”

Sheer, skin revealing fabrics are in stores all over the world and it is the perfect way to add a romantic touch to your wardrobe. Anel Botha is one of SA’s go-to designers when it comes to soft flowy and romantic so take a page out of her style book and be creative with laces, chiffons, crepe’s and sheer illusion fabrics.

Fashion for Men

“Vertical Stripes”

Pin stripes, hard lines and vertical stripes are a fun way for men to get creative without getting overwhelmed by all the frou-frou fashion sometimes throws in your direction. Get a nice tailored suit pant for the office or a nice striped vest to give colour to a boring check shirt. Have fun and be comfortable in your own skin and your fashion will always be top of the class.

“Tonal Dressing”

Tonal dressing is a fun way of adding some creativity without beating yourself over the head with colour. Grab your chinos and your kaki’s and get your ‘tone on tone colour-blocking’ on.

“The dad-denim”

Remember those high waisted baggy jeans your mom use to wear in the 80’s. Lokks like that’s coming back for another round… Guys have gone through so many denim trends in the past few years and it seems like the one that stuck around the longest was the skinny jean. That is until now! Say hello to the dad denim, a baggier, more comfortable version of your favourite skinny jean.

Tropical Print Shirts

Men can have fun with floral too! Get yourself a nice floral button up and pair it with some plain shorts, flip flops and a panama and you will be ready for every braai during spring.
