Bowlers enjoy a good run of form

Newcastle bowlers have had a good run recently, featuring well on the greens.
Playing in the annual Slabbert/Arndt Pairs Competition hosted by Dundee Bowling Club, Newcastle bowlers took the lion’s share of the prizes.
Douglas Steele, together with his Dundee partner Des Johnston, were the overall winners.
They were followed by Lou and Eleen Roux in second place, Stephen and Samantha Shaw in third and Lindsay Steele and Adrian van der Merwe in fourth.
Over and above that, Monty and Michelle Steele and grandson, Aspen Shaw all recorded full house eights to cap a good day for all.
Congratulations also to Lindsay for being selected to represent the KwaZulu-Natal Country Bowls Under-30 team, which will play in the inaugural U-30 South African Inter-Districts competition in September.
