Same sex marriages are often misunderstood and judged by those who are afraid of the unknown, and even more so when ‘we’ decide to raise children.

However, being a parent while in a same sex marriage is really not that different to what is considered the “norm”.

We also celebrate special occasions such as Mother’s Day, and in fact we tend to go bigger because we are two moms in the house.

My partner and I raise two beautiful daughters together, who absolutely adore the fact that they have two moms, and come Mother’s Day they go all out to make the day special for both of us.

We both get beautiful gifts, complimented with heart-felt home made cards and a cup of coffee to top it all off.

Both our children are proud to say they have two moms, and they do not care who likes or dislikes it, because they are happy and content with the life they have.

Two moms means twice the love, twice the advice and twice the mentorship.

Two moms mean we both offer very different advice, which makes it easier for our children to talk about certain things.

Two moms means they have two very strong examples, creating the best life possible for them.

So you see, being different is not a bad thing, and it should not be judged by those who aren’t willing accept that different can also be happy.
