Three Pick ‘n Win accused are free to go

The other eight will appear again on November 17 for a bail application

Three of the eleven men arrested for their part in the dramatic armed robbery at Pick ‘n Win Supermarket have had charges dropped against them.

Thobeka, Khumalo, Tholinhlanhla Mlambo and Sanele Ngoma were released after the police discovered that they were not part of the robbery following an investigation.

All three spent about 10 days in detention along with the other eight arrested.

When they first appeared on October 29, Thobeka Khumalo tried to explain to the Court that he was not part of the robbery and worked as a mechanic for Dr Sifiso Kunene. He had only been at the Supermarket to fetch his cellphone.

However, at the time Magistrate Khumalo explained this ‘was not the time to tell the Court’ his story.

The other eight will appear again on November 17 for a bail application. One of the suspect attorneys want to view the surveillance footage taken at the scene.

Those who are to appear include:  Michael Zondi (53),  Thamsanqa Thwala (30), Derick Zwane (39), Nelson Molefe (42),  Jabu Ncube (31), Manella Dumakude (44) Themba Ndlovu (40) and Thulani Mazibuko (43).

The case is investigated by Detectives Nkabini and  Mpongose.
