School books among the rubbish illegally dumped in Ladysmith

Cllr Warasally is appalled that costly textbooks can simply be thrown away when education is the key to a better future

Illegal dumping has created a major problem in this town and the “smelly situation” seems to just continue with no end in sight, according to Councillor Abbas Warasally.

A stinky mess in Azalea Drive has left homeowners and motorists furious. The dumping has now spread to the side of the road, making it difficult for motorists.

Cllr Warasally visited the area and was shocked at what he found. School books, including school textbooks (which are expensive), had been dumped and even burnt due to veld fires.

The councillor says he is astounded and appalled that costly textbooks can simply be thrown away when everyone knows just how important education is. He adds that if the municipality investigates, they will easily find out who the culprits are, as names are written in the school books.

Cllr Warasally hopes people will stop dumping all over the place and instead use the landfill site that is provided.
