Local police captain takes top achiever award

The programme was attended by 40 station commanders from across the country

Captain Kalman Robin Johnson, who has 25 years’ experience in the South African Police Service (SAPS), was recently singled out as the best achiever in a station commander programme he attended in the Western Cape.

But let’s start at the beginning… After completing his basic training in Oudtshoorn in 1994, Capt Johnson began at Weenen SAPS. He did various duties and as he grew in rank, he joined the Weenen Detective Service.

His interest in the forensic field saw him join the Ladysmith Criminal Record & Crime Scene Management Unit (formerly known as the Local Criminal Record Centre).

Ironically, promotion to the rank of captain took him back to the town of Weenen as station commander. Shortly thereafter, the captain took up the post of station commander at Colenso SAPS, where he is currently stationed.

He was recently nominated to attend the Station Management Learning Programme. The programme was held in Paarl, Western Cape, and was attended by 40 station commanders from across the country.

This modest father of four received the best achiever award for the course. Congratulations to the captain!
