BREAKING NEWS: Elderly Paradise woman threatened with death by robbers

An elderly woman was threatened by the three men, who demanded she hand over any gold jewellery or they would kill her.

When crime came knocking, an elderly woman fought back.

At around 10.45am this morning (September 28), the Paradise resident was busy with morning prayers when three men entered her Lincoln Street property.

These men claimed they were interested in renting out flats behind the main house.

Mark Jacobs, owner of Two Eagles Security, said the men came to the house under false pretences.

The resident’s domestic worker took the men to see one of the flats, and it was then the robbers saw an opportunity.

She was forced into a flat and locked inside.

“They then made their way into the main house, when they found the elderly woman. They demanded she hand over whatever gold jewellery she had in her possession.”

When the resident replied she had none, the three men threatened to kill her.

“She told them that they could kill her, but she still didn’t have any jewellery,” Mr Jacobs said.

Facing utter failure and stubborn bravery, the men decided to flee the scene with imitation jewellery only.

Newcastle 911 joined SAPS and Two Eagles Security at the scene within minutes of the robbery.

However, the men have since escaped.

Residents are urged to keep an eye out for suspicious vehicles matching the colour and make – a black BMW.
