Watch: SASSA offices set alight by angry protesters in Ekuvukeni

It is believed that the protest action can worsen today

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) offices in Ekuvukeni were set alight last night Wednesday (20 February).

The on-going protest action is believed to have flared up in the area due to the residents not having water and problems with the sewer systems.

The area last night was a ‘No Go Zone’ as the streets were blocked with rocks and then the protesters set the entire building a light.

Today, Thursday the area is still not excess-able for vehicles to pass.

A councilor from the area Siyabonga Sibisi says that this is not the way for community to act out as we are heading for elections and they must use their vote to raise their concerns.

It is believed that the protest action can worsen today.
