Newcastle Senior Primary School hosts chess tournament

Six local schools participated in the highly anticipated tournament, and players thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to test their skills against opponents, as well as sharpen their game.

NSPS hosted a Newcastle Inter-school Chess Tournament at the school hall on Friday, June 9.

The winners in the following categories were:

Junior Primary:

First place – Jonathan de Jager

Second place – Trent Pepler

Third place – Asanda Sigubudu.

Grade 4 and 5:

First place – Unathi Madonsela

Second place – Hamzah Ismail

Third place – Mihir Gajee.

Grade 6 and 7:

First place – Bobby Ding

Second place – Eugene de Swart

Third place – Rivaan Kalideen.
