Stand a chance to exhibit your art at the Carnegie Art Gallery

Interested parties can submit a proposal for a chance to exhibit their artworks, by following the details provided:

NEWCASTLE CBD – The Carnegie Art Gallery is happy to support individual and group artists with exhibition opportunities to showcase their unique pieces of artworks (sculpture, paintings, textile, prints, installation et cetera).

Artists who wish to apply for exhibition space can forward their applications to phumzile.dlamini@newcastle.gov.za or contact the Carnegie Art Gallery on 034 328 7622.

Interested parties can submit a proposal for a chance to exhibit their artworks, by following the details provided:

Guidelines for writing the request proposal:

1. A cover letter with all details, describing the purpose or curatorial intent of the exhibition.

2. List the artist’s participation and brief description of artworks.

3. A resumé or biography for each artist, including an Identity Document number.

4. Describe the exhibition content in five sentences.

5. Provide a complete inventory of works to be shown, including titles, material used, when it was made, price, and sizes.

6. Include images of your artworks in your proposal – (digital image in JPEG format); all the images must be labelled with your last name, first initial, and numbers, indicating your preferred viewing order (example: doej1.jpg).

7. Please expect the process to take at least three months.

8. If your exhibition is sponsored, mention the name of the sponsor for publicity purposes.

Rules and conditions:

You will abide to all the terms and conditions: agreements and guidelines mentioned.

The gallery will assist with the exhibition space, display, invitation, and publicity as well as transportation of artworks – maximum 20.

The artwork which does not have proof of its provenance or not signed will not be accepted.

The artworks which do not depict unity will not be accepted.

If artworks are damaged or lost outside the gallery premises, the gallery will not take responsible for them.

The gallery will not accept wet and unfinished artworks.

The proposal will be submitted to the Exhibition Committee for evaluation and approval.

If your proposal is accepted, you will be contacted via the detail provided by you.

Take note: There is no guarantee on space. Artworks will be judged on quality and standard.
