Petrol Hike: Petrol price set to go over the R16 mark next month

Motorists will indeed feel the pinch, so brace yourselves for another increase

The price of petrol is expected to go up yet again next month.

The Automobile Association (AA) expects that the price of fuel will increase by around 30 cents a litre, which will take the petrol price over R16 in July.

“The current data forecasts a rise of around 32 cents a litre for petrol, 30 cents for diesel and 22 cents for illuminating paraffin,” said the AA.

The association said the increase comes against the background of a weakening rand against the US dollar and the price of oil.

The petrol price has reportedly increased by as much as 15 per cent – more than R2 per litre – over the past three months.

The price of petrol will cost R16.08 and R15.86 for unleaded (95 and 93 respectively), according to the AA.

Motorists will indeed feel the pinch, so brace yourselves for yet another increase.
