School protest not reported to District Education Department

The group wants the current acting principal, who has served as the deputy for many years, to be appointed as the principal.

A protest broke out at the Amakhemfundo Primary School on Wednesday morning as teachers, parents and SGB members objected against the appointment of a new principal. The group wants the current acting principal, who has served as the deputy for many years, to be appointed as the principal. 
Police patrolled the area to ensure that the protest did not turn ugly. Protesters put up placards on the school fence before leaving. SGB members refused to speak to the media.
Vincent Majola, head of the Umzinyathi District Education Department, told the Courier that ‘the matter regarding the protest at Amakhemfundo Primary was not reported to this Office either by the Management of the school or the Circuit Manager’ and that he has referred it to the human resources head for investigation.’
