Runners “rip up” the route with coloured powder poured all over them

Medals were handed out and refreshing cool drink was served to the thirsty runners who appeared to be a mixture of different hues at the end of the race

Does having coloured powder thrown all over you make you run faster? This is an experiment that could have been conducted on the outskirts of town on Saturday afternoon, where something a little bit different in the realm of sporting action took place.

A Twizza Charity Colour Run was held at Platrand Lodge.

The event was hosted by Môrester Children’s Home with the aim of raising funds for the home.

Adults and children alike enjoyed the afternoon run, all for a good cause.

It was a 3km route, with the gates opening at 2.30pm and the run itself starting at 3.45pm.

The “colour” part came in at the halfway mark when the runners were covered in colourful powder and had to run the rest of the way looking like a psychedelic, kaleidoscopic version of themselves.

The good-natured runners enjoyed the experience and had a really good time.

Medals were handed out and refreshing cool drink was served to the thirsty runners who appeared to be a mixture of different hues at the end of the race. Was it the heat that had affected them or was some ‘third force’ at work, throwing coloured powder into the mix? The latter, of course, and it was great fun indeed!
