#MotivationMonday: How to keep your kids entertained in rainy weather

Every child has a part within them that loves to read.

The worst thing you could possibly experience after a long tiring day at work is walking into a house mutinied by noisy children, destroying everything in their path out of sheer boredom.

As long as children have planned activities and daily routines, they become easier to ‘control’.  So for rainy days, here is a list of five things to keep your children entertained indoors.

1. Read

Every child has a part within them that loves to read.  Rainy days are the perfect time for parents to nurture this. Entice the little one with a mug of hot chocolate with tiny marshmallows and a cosy blanket, snuggled up in your arms as you journey through the imaginations created by books.

2. Play board games

With technology rapidly taking over our lives, simple joys like board games have become ancient history.  Cold weather would be a good time to bring back this trend.

3. Help to cook

Well after work, dinner still needs to be made despite how rainy it is outside.  Getting the kids involved in cooking with you will keep them busy and they will be excited to try out the dinners they help with.

4. Watch a movie

A big bowl of buttery popcorn, a warm blanket and a magical movie could keep any child tucked safely away inside the house for an entire monsoon season.

5. Explore the wonders of activity books

Activity books could keep children busy for hours if the activities are for their age group.  The sense of accomplishment they will feel once their activities are done will send them smiling to bed, feeling like they have achieved so much in one day – and the bonus is, they will stay out of the rain.
