Notice: Anglo-Boer War event in the sights

“Bring along your own historical weapon to gain more information, or tell others about it,”

This Saturday, Fort Amiel is the place for history and weapon enthusiasts to be.

From 3pm until 4.30pm, the museum will host an Anglo-Boer War Commemoration, and features a demonstration by the Dundee Diehards.

Fort Amiel Museum curator, Louis Eksteen elaborated on this event. Due to budgetary constraints, he said the event was scaled down and this prompted the Diehards to assist at no charge.

“Many people over the years mentioned they have old firearms, swords, Zulu spears and knobkieries they want more information on. Gavin Slater and Sean Friend are specialists, and will give a talk and advise the public on their items.”

There will also be a thrilling demonstration of powder and single-shot guns, including Martini-Henri, Mauser and Lee Enfield models. Entrance and weapon advice are both free.

“Bring along your own historical weapon to gain more information, or tell others about it,” Mr Eksteen concluded.
