Members were led by Nhlakanipho Ntombela as part of the provincial Legislature’s Health Functionality visits. Uthukela District Mayor Cllr AS Mazibuko, Health District Director Dr T Zulu, EDTEA, government stakeholders and fieldworkers were also present.

The team visited the Madiba Clinic located in the Bhekuzulu area outside Estcourt. The clinic has provided training on Covid-19 to all its staff members, resulting in the effectiveness of staff during the period of the deadly virus.

The facility is provided with sufficient personal protective equipment (PPE) and a dedicated gazebo on the premises at the main gate for the screening of clients accessing the service point. The clinic operates eight hours per day and seven days a week.

Overcrowding at the reception area is a major concern that leads to longer queues. Covid-19 guidelines are implemented and regulations observed. The facility also conducts home visits through community care givers and door-to-door visits, including outreach campaigns are on-going in the area.
