Muslim community continues with lockdown hamper drive
A further 1840 struggling families received food hampers, maize meal and rice

The Al-Imdaad Foundation and the Muslim community of Estcourt continued their lockdown food hamper drive across all 23 wards of Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality over the past week.

A further 1840 struggling families received food hampers, maize meal and rice as part of the distributions.
The hamper drive is a continuation of activities that were started by the Muslim community in April to give back to families in the Estcourt area who have been struggling without basic supplies under the extended lockdown.
This time around, contributions came from the Mackson’s Group, Emangweni Bus Services, Uthukela Scholar Transport, The Green Grocer and Rainbow Foods. The Islamic Medical Association also came on board by contributing face masks.
Distributions took place on May 13 in Loskop and Ntabamhlophe, and the teams focused on Wembezi, Weenen, Rensburg and other areas on the outskirts of Estcourt town on Thursday.
The teams continued to work with Operation Sukuma Sakhe community development workers (CDWs) to identify the neediest families and were joined for several house visits by representatives from the Office of the Mayor.
The Al-Imdaad Foundation would like to thank all role players who came on board to make these hamper distributions a success.
