EFF welcomes forensic report

"We call on law enforcement agencies to follow proper instructions when handling thugs and looters of people's resources".

The EFF has welcomed the forensic investigative report on maladministration, fraud and corruption in Zululand District Municipality.
“We note the preliminary report by the Provincial Department of CoGTA regarding the forensic investigation into allegations of maladministration, fraud and corruption at Zululand District Municipality. The report found that the Zululand District mayor, the former speaker of the council and the then municipal manager have been involved in maladministration, corruption and fraud. This includes the councillors of the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP),” said Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) regional chairperson Thulani Ndlovu.
He continued that, “Zululand is a poorly developed rural municipality, where our people need basic services such as health facilities, clean and running water, permanent and sustainable jobs. The EFF in the council have one councillor and we have continuously supported moves towards services to our people. It is now clear that the ruling party in the council is incapable of governing our people, but steals the resources meant for the people of Zululand.”
The EFF has called on law enforcement to take its course and arrest those implicated.

“We call on law enforcement agencies to follow proper instructions when handling thugs and looters of people’s resources. The rule of law must take its full right and put the wrongdoers in the place they belong. It must also be noted that COGTA as a department must be guarded with caution, as it is a weapon in the hands of the ruling party (IFP) and can be used to manipulate clean governance through advancing the interests of the ruling party through blackmail and intimidation.
“We further caution the ruling party in the province that we are vigilant and will not allow further corruption from them. They should not treat this as an opportunity to do what they are excellent at doing – stealing. We shall guard the running of our municipality and always alert our people on who steals their resources,” said Ndlovu.
