IFP says mayor is the victim of a witch-hunt

"I have noticed many flaws and elements of witch-hunt politics in it, so it is still going to feel the heat of the test."

Following the recent release of the forensic investigation report into allegations of maladministration, fraud and corruption at Zululand District Municipality (ZDM), some political organisations have called for the mayor to resign.
The forensic report by Mdledle Incorporated recommends that the mayor be removed from both his seat as a mayor and councillor, and also not be allowed to participate in any municipal activities.
The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in Zululand has noted the existence of the report and said it is still looking into it, but has brought up matters of concern in the report.

The deputy chairperson of the IFP in the Zululand District, Cllr Mpiyakhe Hlatshwayo, said, “We are still looking into it as the district leadership of the IFP. However, the report is the viewpoint of fallible human investigators. It is still going to be tested. I have noticed many flaws and elements of witch-hunt politics in it, so it is still going to feel the heat of the test.”
He also indicated that, as the district leadership, they were going to consult with the mother-body so they can all respond with one voice on the matter.
Hlatshwayo reiterated that, “This has an element of a witch-hunt, but let us finish studying the report and then we will give you a more detailed response.”
