Girls in white dresses- Jennifer Close

Click here to see the hilarious tale of Girls in White Dresses.

Year after year they attend weddings, always the bridesmaid never the bride. See how these ladies cope with life, love and the hysterics.

Overview:

Isabella, Mary and Lauren feel like everyone they know is getting married. On Sunday after Sunday, they attend bridal showers after bridal showers , they coo over toasters, collect ribbons and wrapping paper, and eat miniscule  sandwhiches and pink cake.  They wear pastel dresses and drink wine by the cases but amid the celebrations these women have their own lives to contend with. Isabella is working a dead end job, Mary has a monster-in-law and Lauren is waitressing at a midtown bar and wondering why she’s attracted to a sleazy bartender who doesn’t shower.

With a wry sense of humour Jennifer Close brings us through those thrilling, bewildering years of early adulthood as she pulls us inside the circle of these friends.  Perfectly capturing the wild frustrtaions and soaring joys of adulthood. Each character is lively and relatable, one feels the joys of Isabella finally finding her dream man, and  one is brought to tears with Laurens bad luck, as she always ends up with the raw end  of the deal and last but not least one cant help but grit their teeth at Mary’s mother in laws antics.

Whats hot and whats not

Comment: This book was an awesome feel good chicklit (chick literature) book. It had me rolling with laughter and feeling bubbles in my stomach. I thoroughly enjoyed the book, it kept me hooked and the fact that these girls are real girls and not just characters made it all the more interesting.

Recommendation: I would recommend this book to anyone who fancies a good laugh but at the same time wants to read something with essence.
