Vryheiders create ‘weird’ running images on Strava

Running in the garden is just another way to train, making runners more creative in setting a new challenge every day.

The 21-day lockdown has made local runners appreciate every single step they are able to take.
Whether it is just a quick walk or a fast sprint, each runner has expressed how much they miss their early morning socials on their runs.
Many of them are making a real effort to do a ‘mini garden route’, hence the weird Strava maps they are currently seeing on their running app.

The Vryheid Atheltic Club is still communicating via its WhatsApp group.
The team has set an individual #vac5kmlockdown challenge and the feedback received thus far is very positive.
VAC thanks Marlene Beän for this initiative, calling it a great way to keep everyone motivated.
Melissa Scheepers has joined a special challenge, to run 200 kilometres during the 21-day lockdown. Because she has not been allowed to run outside her property, Melissa has also had to run in her own backyard – and has done just this.
Melissa has run a full 42,2km marathon in her yard.
Two days later, she did a 50km as well. Most recently, on day 11, she also completed a 21km run.
She has run these on a lap of 130m, having to run a total of 384 laps to make up her 50km distance.
“Melissa, you are one special lady for sure!”
