Police recover herd of cattle in Upper Tugela area valued at R180,000

The cattle were taken for safekeeping to Upper Tugela SAPS

A community/police partnership that has been forged in the Bergville area is paying dividends.

A tip-off received by the commander of the Bergville Stock Theft Unit resulted in the recovery of 12 head of cattle.

Following up on the information about cattle being herded in the Ngoba area of Upper Tugela, a group of police officers rushed to the area and soon came across the herd.

When the men herding the cattle spotted police, they disappeared into the foliage.

The cattle were taken for safekeeping to Upper Tugela SAPS. It has been established that some of the cattle are from the Amangwe area. The cattle will be taken to the pound while the owners are being traced and further investigation into the matter continues.

The cattle are valued at about R180,000.
