The popular multi-sport event kicked off at 7am with a trail run, followed by a mountain bike ride, kiddie’s dash & splash, biathlon and triathlon.
The participants were hyped up and seen doing a few warm-up stretches before heading off on the route. They all went head to head to see who would claim victory in the 2020 Wagendrift Challenge.
Luring in the biggest crowd was the swim of either 500m or a kilometre. An exciting finish was in sight, with loads of awesome prizes handed out to the finishers. The shiny inter-school floating trophy for spirit was awarded to Drakensberg Boys Choir School for their amazing attendance.
Estcourt 74 Round Table would also like to thank Winterton Primary for their support, coming in with the second most school entries.
Round Table has issued a challenge to all other schools within and around Estcourt (Treverton, St Gregory, Drakensview and Estcourt High School, to name a few) to try and scoop the floating trophy. The Wagendrift Challenge is a great exercise ahead of the Midmar Mile, so in case you missed out, keep your eyes peeled for the 2021 Wagendrift Challenge.
The hosts (Estcourt 74 Round Table) thank all the participants, Round Table members, other service clubs that offered help, and the generous sponsors.
