Youngsters take the lead at parkrun’s latest instalment
The first woman to finish was Esther, who is in the age group 60+ and in overall eighth position.
At Saturday’s parkrun, the first athlete to cross the line was Nhlanhla, just 10 seconds short of his course record.
Mark and Samu completed the event in second and third place and are still in the age group 11-14 years.

Personal bests were set by Simo, Dietmar, Philani, Keneilwe, Hardie, Siphelele, Lizari, Chantelle, Berdine, Madelein, Arie, Johan, Lou-Ri, Velisiwe, Ruzaan, Neels and Driekie-Ann. Vryheid parkrun would like to remind all women to bring a friend on March 7, to celebrate International Women’s Day.
The men are urged to encourage their wives and daughters to join in on the fun.
Remember that parkrun takes place every Saturday at 7am and the entrance is located on President Street.
