Update: Man attacked by vicious dogs in Ladysmith

A fine of R50 can be issued if a dog is out of its yard

The man who was recently attacked by vicious dogs in Reservoir Road is recovering well at home.

Taking an afternoon walk, he was shocked when three Alsatians ran out of their yard and attacked him. The man told the Ladysmith Gazette that he tried in vain to fight off the aggressive animals.

A resident who lives in the area saw what was happening and immediately came to his rescue, chasing the dogs away.

The man sustained serious injuries to his legs and was immediately taken to the doctor.

“The owner took full responsibility for the dogs’ actions and was very helpful,” said the man.

According to Public Safety, a fine of R50 can be issued if a dog is out of its yard. Furthermore, if a person is injured as a result of being attacked by a dog, the owner of the dog is liable for the victim’s medical expenses.
