50 golden years of marriage for the MacCallums

"Just like every couple, we have had our trials and tribulations, but when you put God first in any situation, it always works out"

Peter and Pat MacCallum celebrated their ‘golden’ wedding anniversary on Saturday at Durnford’s Lodge.

Pat was only 23 months old when she moved to Ladysmith with her parents. Peter, on the other hand, was born and raised here.

The couple met in town when Peter started working for Pat’s dad, as they had their own dairy business years back.

They became friends at first, and then love blossomed. They married on February 10, 1968, at the All Saints Church, where they had a gorgeous garden wedding attended by about 300 people.

They have two beautiful daughters and three grandchildren, and say they have been extremely blessed with good health throughout the years.

“Just like every couple, we have had our trials and tribulations, but when you put God first in any situation, it always works out,” says Pat.

On Saturday, family members and friends gathered at Durnford’s Lodge to celebrate the couple’s anniversary and make new memories with them.

The loving couple are wished all the best in the future – may they have many more anniversaries!
