Municipality commits to cleaner environment

Two new play parks were also opened in Madadeni Section 5 and in oSizweni.

In the hope of a cleaner and greener environment, Newcastle Municipality officially took delivery of the Newcastle Buyback Centre in Madadeni, Section 6, on Wednesday, November 2.

The centre will play an instrumental role to address the challenges of waste management and to promote recycling, while creating job opportunities.

Two new play parks were also opened in Madadeni Section 5 and in oSizweni.

Deputy Minister of Environmental Affairs, Barbara Thompson, handed over the parks and buyback centre on behalf of the department’s Environmental Protection and Infrastructure Programme that funded the projects to the tune of R19-million.

She encouraged the community to make full use of the buyback centre, and to grow their own vegetables to help alleviate poverty.
