Eyethu Sports Tournament aims to have youth athletically involved

Under 17 netball and soccer teams participated in the Eyethu Sports Tournament in Wembezi

Bright and early on the Day of Reconciliation, under 17 soccer and netball teams were lacing up for an exciting tournament.

Their sights were set on the big win – R1 000 in cash, soccer jerseys, a trophy, medals and netball or soccer balls. Ten soccer and ten netball teams played at the Wembezi Stadium and in Longhomes respectively.

Ntombi Mazibuko who represents the organisation Real World Solutions said that the Eyethu Sports Tournament had one aim.

“Our main aim is to do something good for the children and show them they do not have to hang around in the streets or shops, they can do something constructive with their day,” said Mrs Mazibuko.

She described the tournament as progressing smoothly. At the time of going to print on Monday afternoon, the results were not available yet.  See the first edition on January 8 for more information.
