Don’t be a victim to cash robberies

The SAPS issues tips to avoid being a victim to cash robberies

As the festive season draws closer, some people are inclined to keep or carry large sums of money.
Police are warning against this.

“Citizens should consider options that are lower risk like to carry as little cash as possible and consider making use of cellphone banking and internet transfers to pay accounts or ATMs to do the banking,” says police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele.

Stokvel groups are especially warned not to keep large sums of money at their homes.

This comes after a stokvel club was robbed by armed men in Umbumbulu. Four people were injured and one person later died.

• Refrain from making cash deposits
